Hello, I'm Erin, the indecisive food-obsessed creative behind the lens at pixels and produce. I’ve always loved cooking, well more food I guess, and preferred receiving cookbooks and crockery over jewellery and flowers, even being gifted around 8 cookbooks for my 16th birthday. I’m a recipe creator, food stylist and photographer assistant for some of Melbournes best food photographers. This is my creative outlet where I love sharing recipes, photos and the occasional travel story, thanks for stopping by.
A little bit about me, here are some of my favourite things:
Movie - Call me by your name
City - Paris or Budapest
Food - Almond croissant
Meal - Thai green curry
Cuisine - Thai
Country - Bali
Season - Winter
Chef - Matty Matherson
Restaurant - Tipo 00
What type of recipes can you expect?
As a passionate food lover first and Dietitian second you can expect to see a little bit of everything on this blog, as long as it tastes delicious I’ll share it. Never one to pigeonhole into a food category I just cook what I feel like eating, sometimes this might be vegan, sometimes meat-based meals, sometimes sweet decadent cakes and sometimes gluten free plant-based bowls.
When did I start food blogging?
It's been a long journey to get here. I started the original incarnation of this blog some 7 years ago. Back then it was better known as Eat Live Move and was a creative outlet to combine my love of food and nutrition knowledge, creating healthy recipe ideas while I was working as a dietitian. In that time my motivation for cooking, creating and sharing shifted from purely a health focus to a collection of comfort food recipes and travel stories. Losing the passion for blogging while starting a small business I, unfortunately, let this passion project slip to the wayside back in 2018 and deleted my blog. I know, I know, trust me now working as an SEO specialist I know that was not a smart decision. Now it's 2021 and seems like a great time to get stuck back into this creative outlet and see out what is left of the coronavirus pandemic.
FAQ's
How do you come up with your recipes?
Unlike most people who fall asleep with a novel in their hands, I wake up with a cookbook weighing down my chest. I’m constantly inspired by the recipes I find both in books and online, spending hours watching youtube food stories. I tend to take a concept and put a spin on it and when I don’t change a recipe much from the original recipe I will also share credit where credit is due.
Do you take all the photos yourself?
Yes, all the photos you’ll see on this blog, food, travel and otherwise are all mine. It’s my favourite part, to be honest, that and the food styling component. It’s the aesthetic pleasure I take from setting up a photo to make the food look more delicious than it takes.
If you love my photos and want to share them with your friends, family or followers all I ask for is a bit of original creation love. If you want to use my photos for other reasons more commercial please let me know.
What camera equipment do I use?
I’ve used the same Canon 6D with the 24-70mm lens for the past 7 years, it’s a great combo with multi uses. Eventually, I’d love to add some more lens to my arsenal however for now these two pieces of equipment to the job.
I also use a pretty standard tripod, only natural light and a tether cord hooked up to capture one on my MacBook.
